Jeffrey A. Cunningham has been shooting documentaries since the first time he picked up a camera. His first super-8 film, shot at age 10, shows friends romping around the neighborhood riding bikes and jumping ramps!
It was more than a decade later that Jeffrey started shooting professionally. At first, he shot mostly commercials, music videos and documentary projects. He says, “I find the storytelling aspect of docs to be incredibly satisfying, as well as the diverse subject matter.”
To wit, Jeffrey has shot with Republic of Texas separatists, Tijuana prostitutes, Bering Sea fishermen, Appalachian coal miners, women attempting to climb K2 and racers competing in the Baja 1000, to name just a few.
Since 1995, Jeffrey has amassed an impressive list of credits, including feature films with multiple Oscar winning actors, national commercials, music videos with eclectic artists, high-end corporate shoots with some of the biggest companies in the world and visual artistry using handheld, spring-wound 16mm cameras.
In addition to his filmmaking skills, Jeffrey is a bit of a thrill-seeker. He has surfed and climbed around the world, including epic wave riding in Baja and South Africa, week-long ascents of Yosemite’s El Capitan and a 3-month expedition to the Kashmir region of Pakistan.
