Location Scout, Location Manager, Fixer, Line Producer, Producer and Director, Nick Ray has worked in a variety of roles on film and television projects in Cambodia and the Mekong region. Nick worked as the Location Manager on Tomb Raider when Hollywood came to Cambodia for the first time in more than 35 years. He then went on to work on several other major feature films in Cambodia, including Jean-Jacques Annaud’s Two Brothers and Australian production Wish You Were Here and The Last Reel.
He has also worked on countless productions for National Geographic, BBC, Discovery, Travel Channel and Animal Planet, including major roles as Line Producer for the BBC Top Gear Vietnam special and BBC’s flagship series Around the World in 80 Treasures, where he covered Cambodia, Indonesia and Thailand for the shoot. In the world of commercials, he has worked on TVCs for renowned international brands Pepsi, Heineken, Cisco Systems, TUI Travel and TOMS Shoes.
Away from the world of film, Nick Ray is one of the best-known travel writers in Southeast Asia, having worked on more than 40 guidebooks for Lonely Planet. Nick has written multiple editions of the best-selling Cambodia guidebook, as well as contributing to country guides on Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Indonesia. Nick is the author of the Lonely Planet Angkor Encounter guidebook.
