Kim Reddin is an Australian film maker and tv commercial director with a knack for projects involving story. He thrives when producing shoots with actors, action sequences and comic timing or those requiring a mix of classic and new film making techniques, to convey a feeling, vibe or an emotion.
As a former ‘in-house’ tvc director and agency creative, Kim, is ready with workable ideas based on his experiences across a broad range brands.
His back ground includes a university degree majoring in Film & Television, minoring in Communications and cultural studies, development grants for films and years or professional work in various roles behind the scenes on all scale of local and international productions.
Since breaking into professional tvc direction by making community service announcements in conjunction with corporate films - he has gone on to be been creatively responsible for hundreds of tv spots and completed productions.
Colleagues have described him as a ‘an enthusiastic problem solver’ who ‘captains’ the creative process in friendly atmosphere. No matter what the scale of the shoot or the budget, he brings to the set his skills in advertising, art direction and filmmaking to guarantee the delivery of high quality work and options for the edit.
If he is not drawing a story board, ‘on a recce’, on set, or in an edit for a tvc, Kim is usually honing his craft writing, developing short films, a doco or his first independent feature film.
On weekends Kim can be found watching his favourite football team live, surfing, at the movies or planning his next safari adventure to photograph endangered animals, in the wild.
