About Heather

A genre-bending writer, Heather Ostrove focuses on female protagonists who deal with real-life struggles while facing out-of-this-world situations. Specializing in fantasy, grounded sci-fi, and horror, her characters go on adventures that force them to face the regrets of their past and take control of their future. She has worked with numerous production companies and studios including CrypTV and Netflix. Her scripts have won/place in numerous prestigious contests including the Austin Film Festival, the Creative World Awards, and the PAGE Awards. She’s received multiple 8s on the Black List and appeared on Coverfly’s Red List.

Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, Heather moved to Los Angeles to earn her MFA in filmmaking. After graduating, she gained experience in post-production, coordinating and editing EPK packages, DVD and marketing featurettes for both documentary and narrative films including the Academy Award winning “Dallas Buyers Club,” “Anna Karenina,” and “Moonrise Kingdom.” Expanding her knowledge of the current market, Heather worked at Breakdown Services, reading scripts set to go into production and writing detailed character breakdowns for the project’s Casting Director.
