James trained at Rose Bruford Theatre College from 2011 to 2013 where amongst other roles he performed as ‘Vershinin’ in Chekov’s 'Three Sisters', ‘Peter’ in Dennis Potter’s 'Blue Remembered Hills' and ‘Ben’ in Harold Pinter’s 'The Dumb Waiter'.
In 2014 James has appeared in two short films as ‘Father’ in '5-15pm' and ‘Richard’ in 'Through The Estate'. James appeared as ‘Van Buren’ in Imperial Productions’ fifties baseball musical 'Damn Yankees' at The Brockley Jack Theatre and ‘Christy’ in Dermot Bolger's Irish play 'From These Green Heights' at The Mary Wallace Theatre. This performance earned James a nomination for Best Actor 2014 by Richmond-Upon-Thames Arts Council. James appeared as ‘Casca’, ‘Titinius’ and ‘Lucius’ in Proud Haddock’s 'Julius Caesar' at The Saatchi Gallery, the first play to be staged there before transferring to The Chelsea Theatre.
In February 2015 James appeared as 'Geoff' in Susan Hodgetts' new one man play 'Forget me Not' at the Tristan Bates Theatre as part of First 2015, a festival of solo performances.
