Set in pre-war 1930s Cornwall, England, two enchanted children decide not to grow up into the adult world, until world events overwhelm them. Joan and Richard, the two richest children in England, refuse to grow up into a world at war and with the help of the ageless gardener, Timothy, make a wish upon his ancient Druid stones to stay as they are. But the violent world outside refuses to honor their pact, considering the children's innocence to be madness.
