LOGLINE:

As a witness for the prosecution, a former drug dealer recounts his dealings with his former boss, now on trial, as he paints a dark picture of the drug world in Camden, NJ, in the ’80s.

SYNOPSIS:

Live 2 Tell is the gritty urban courtroom drama that falls into the true-crime category. The story is about Lucas Torres, a cocaine dealer in the small but notorious city of Camden, New Jersey. Torres is able to rise from a corner drug dealer to a multi-millionaire who imported 100 kilos of cocaine to the city every three weeks. Torres was able to accomplish these feats due to the relationships forged by his mentor Jose Rivera. Rivera introduces Torres to police officers, politicians, and wayward city officials who help him expand his drug empire. Things change when Lucas is shot and ends up in a comma. People steal and plot against Torres, thinking he won’t survive the incident, including Rivera. Lucas is indicted on state charges while in the hospital and takes a plea bargain of 25-years. While awaiting sentencing, Lucas is re-indicted federally in a conspiracy case against Jose Rivera. Lucas has two options go to trial with Rivera and face life in prison or testify against him. His decision is complicated when Torres finds out that Rivera was the one who plotted to have him killed. The film is a courtroom drama that uses flashbacks in the vein of Goodfellas. The script has received a Recommend.

The story sounds interesting, Thomas Freeman Jr. The logline needs just a little work. Maybe "As a witness for the prosecution, a former drug dealer recounts his dealings with his ex-boss, who's now on trial, as he paints a dark picture of the drug world in Camden, NJ, in the ’80s." I replaced the second "former" with "ex-" so "former" doesn't appear twice in the logline.
