Madison MJ Parker is the constant in an ever changing world of local TV news. A self-taught award-winning hard-hitting journalist with a decades-long distinguished career behind him, he now faces his toughest assignment – co-anchoring Omaha This Morning alongside a young, happy, chatty news team.

SYNOPSIS:

After more than 40 years helming the six and 11pm newscasts, Omaha’s own MJ Parker is a fish out of water desperately trying to understand the workings of the overnight shift. Season one of The Overnight finds him determined to discover the real story behind show producer Elliot Bernard’s arrival at KNOW from the network so he can leverage his way back into prime time. However when the truth is finally revealed, MJ seals his fate as morning anchor for the remainder of his career.

The Overnight incorporates fake news stories, show opens, teases and promos into every episode. Flashbacks to a younger MJ delivering historic (and not so historic) stories provide a window into the evolution of local news production, as well as raise the question, “Just how OLD is this guy?”
