About Kristie

Kristie Velasco is committed to promoting justice by advocating for changes in the business of media and entertainment to leverage these industries as forces to empower women, Latinos and other communities of color. As a Professor in a unique MBA program in Media Management and President of CACICA, Entertainment and Media Management and Production Consultants, higher education administrator, and doctoral student, Kristie Velasco still works tirelessly to foster equality, diversity and inclusiveness in the media through education and media literacy.

Kristie takes fierce pride in her children, who she considers to be her greatest contributions to the world, followed closely by each of her students, whose lives she has tried to touch through her teaching, and realizes that with each student she teaches she is also impacting the lives of that student’s family, community, and ultimately society.
