Roman S. Koenig is an award-winning San Diego journalist, filmmaker and screenwriter, and a professor of journalism and film at San Diego City College. Koenig chose an emphasis in screenwriting and production as a graduate student in San Diego State University’s film program from 1998 to 2000, an addition to being an actor. Along with teaching and his frequent participation in the San Diego 48 Hour Film Project, Koenig also publishes the Encinitas-based online news journal North Coast Current. Roman’s recent feature-length screenplay “Black Market News” nominated for a Best Screenplay award at the 2015 San Diego Film Awards. Other awards and nominations for Roman’s work: Best Director nomination for the short film “Bunney” in the 2014 San Diego 48 Hour Film Project; Honorable Mention Best Feature Length Film for “Human Resource” in 2001 from the Zoie Films International online film festival; feature-length screenplay finalist in the Austin and Slamdance film festivals.
