JOHNNY SCHOFIELD (40) is a man living a double life. By day, he works in a corporate environment selling ad space; but by night, he’s running a loan shark racket for a local crime boss called THE FOX.

Until now, Johnny has been barely able to hold this light and dark existence together. But his wife and son are growing impatient that he’s never around. And Johnny’s day job, is jeopardized by the time he takes off to conduct his business on the street. Johnny’s loan shark operation isn’t working out. So he spends a lot of time trying to collect interest payments without much success. He squeaks by with gambling winnings but it isn’t enough.

The Fox is running out of patience. But with his desire to use Johnny as a front man for a legitimate business venture, he gives him a choice to either pay what he owes or whack his ne’er-do-well brother PAULIE to wipe the slate clean.

Johnny tries to compromise, by suggesting a daring heist designed to settle both his and his brother's debt to the mob. But when Murphy’s Law kicks in and things go wrong, Johnny embarks on a gambling spree seeking the cash that he needs to get off the hook. And at the same time, he brokers an investment deal with a fledgling media company to cement his position with The Family and become a made man.

But things quickly unravel, when his wife leaves him; taking his son and the bankroll that was earmarked to pay The Fox. When he goes after them, Johnny ends up in jail and ultimately loses his job. With both halves of his life falling apart, Johnny is forced to make the agonizing choice between his life, and his brother Paulie’s.

It all leads, to a suspense filled payoff that will leave you speechless. Inspired by true events, Pay the Piper is a crime thriller with a difference. RATING: R
