About Jose

Jose A. Garcia studied theatre at the Drama Studio London at Berkeley and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California earning honors in comparative literature. He is a member of SAG/AFTRA and has appeared in several stage productions including: Pinata Dreams, Brown and Out 3 (CASA 0101), Death of a Salesman, Salome (Mosaic Lizard Theater), Los Illegals, For All Time (Cornerstone Theater), A School for Wives (Knightsbridge Theater), The Cave Dwellers, Poe: Out of his Mind (24th Street Theater), Dormez-Vous, Cervantes’ Interludes (Stages Theater), Women of Guernica, The Servant of Two Masters (Fountain Theater), Journey to Comala, Yerma, Fuenteovejuna (Bilingual Foundation of the Arts), and Fallujah (Theater East). Last year Jose also performed in the premiere of Brown and Out at the Fringe Festival in New York. Film and television credits include: Ruby Booby, The Disappearance of Garcia Lorca, El Heladero, General Hospital, and The Bold and the Beautiful. Jose has also recently appeared on Fox Network's Gang Related and has been seen in commercial spots for Miller Lite, Budweiser, and El Torito. Jose, along with Emmy Award winning director and producer Paris Barclay was the recipient of a Cornerstone Theater Company Bridge Award for his work in the arts and in social justice while serving as Executive Director for Inquilinos Unidos, a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to empowering low income tenants through community organizing, education and advocacy to fight for safe, decent and affordable housing in Los Angeles.
