Matthew Pelosi is a freelance composer from Atlanta, GA. Raised on a healthy diet of dirty south hip hop, romanticism, and 90’s punk, rock and metal, his style has evolved into a fusion of diverse influences. A self-taught electronic composer from the age of 11, his formal music training wouldn’t begin for another 12 years. In that time he produced electronic hip hop beats for the upcoming generation of artists in metro Atlanta. Looking to expand into the classical realm but with no formal training, in just four months time he learned to read music, play piano and passed Georgia State University’s School of Music classical piano audition. At GSU his compositions matured as he studied and performed music of the masters of baroque, classical and romantic schools with Dr. Sergio Gallo, a Steinway-sponsored pianist. At the same time he advanced his knowledge of electroacoustic composition with Dr. Robert Scott Thompson, a brilliant pupil of Roger Reynolds. His compositions have appeared in independent films and video games, radio broadcasts and commercial advertisements. His resolve, adaptability and musical intuition solidify the originality and effectiveness of his work as a young composer.
