About Abe

After graduating from the University of Chicago, where he received the Margaret C. Annan Award for Creative Writing, Abe Frank worked as a high school English teacher in New York City and wrote fiction, publishing stories in such literary journals as the New England Review and Glimmer Train. As a screenwriter, he has two original feature projects currently in developmentā€”SPANGLER (RG Films, dir. Richard Goldgewicht) and BOARDWALK VAMPIRE (Ashputtel Pictures, dir. James Felix McKenney) and is also the principle writer on a murder mystery TV series for a joint European-American production company, currently in casting. He has completed a handful of commissioned adaptations for Voyage Media, both features and TV pilots, all in pre-production, and is currently shaping another project for the company with producer Robert Mitas (Ratched). Several of his original scripts have received awards or honorable mention (International Family Film Festival, the Black List, Austin Film Festival, Los Angeles Film Festival, Cinequest, Oaxaca International Film Festival). This past year, he worked under a grant from the Story Incubator Writing Lab and fellowship. In addition to working on his own projects, he has collaborated with Oscar-nominated screenwriter Robert Nelson Jacobs for the past several years. Their most recent feature projects include a novel adaptation for Lionsgate and an original dramedy to be produced by Temple Hill, directed by Simon Curtis.
