Hendrix songs. That was the reason why Tobias Wolring, Thijs van Teijlingen and Sebastiaan Simoen got together a couple of years ago. The Blues, the Soul, the smoky Rock'n'Roll are the trio's passions. They sound like dirty Southern Rock or British drug extravaganzas of the 70s. A band like that can't hide for long: Woot won the coolest newcomer band award in the Netherlands and played at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Coolness can't be taught - either you have it or you don't. The answer is obvious: Woot are cooler than cool.
From The Hague, The Netherlands, WOOT is a young band with their own wayward sound. WOOT’s sixties-inspired psychedelic indie pop ranges from bare and modest to massive sound eruptions. WOOT’s songs are heavily influenced, but the band never copies.
WOOT made runner up at the High School Music Competition 2009 and performed at a number of leading festivals after, such as SXSW (Austin, Texas, USA), Crossing Border Festival and Walk the Line (The Hague, The Netherlands) and Westerpop (Delft, The Netherlands). Early 2011, WOOT toured the larger stages in The Netherlands. Late 2011 WOOT has won the finale in the long running, most prestigious band contest in The Netherlands: Grote Prijs van Nederland (Great Prize of The Netherlands). Performed at Eurosonic Noorderslag 2012 (Groningen), Life I Live festival 2012 (The Hague), mini tour through Morocco 2012 (Casa Blanca, Marakech) and Reeperbahnfestival 2012 (Hamburg)
