A victim of domestic violence goes on a precarious quest in the forest to find who, or what, killed her abusive husband during a camping trip, and reclaim her inner warrior, only to come face-to-face with something she cannot comprehend.
SYNOPSIS:
LYDIA DE LA LUZ watched her father kill her mother when she was a child. Lydia married a man named RICHARD who promised her the moon, but is just as cruel, yet Lydia hopes she can change him. His physical and emotional abuse soon takes a huge toll on her.
On a camping trip Lydia hopes will appease Richard’s volatile personality, Richard gets drunk and beats her repeatedly. Shortly after, he vanishes into the woods, dragged away by a wild animal as Lydia and other campers hear his blood-curdling screams. Despite days of search and rescue efforts, his remains are never found.
During therapy with DR. ANNE KINGSLEY Lydia digs deep into her psychology and works to understand why she was under Richard’s thumb. She also finds support courtesy of DEPUTY JAKE COMORANO and makes the decision to face her fears and traumatic past. She determines she must return to the woods alone and discover who killed her husband. Her goal, to get revenge and reclaim her self-worth. Bolstered by survival gear and weapons, she returns to the forest to find out what happened to Richard on that fateful day.
Soon Lydia realizes that someone, or something, is stalking her. She could succumb to fear, but understands that isn’t an option anymore, and she begins to transform from a helpless victim into a brave survivor. She comes face to face with a bear, convinced it killed her husband. She kills the bear but then finds herself face to face with something far more terrifying– a beast unlike anything she has ever seen. A beast that will bring out her inner warrior and challenge everything she ever believed about herself, her past, and about her thirst for revenge.
