About Vince

Growing up in an Italian neighborhood in NY I learned to make wine long before I knew what an apple pie means, even though my mother’s (Dutch) side of the family arrived in the 1600s. It wasn’t until I served in the Army that I found out my upbringing was very regional. And it was this experience which fueled my writing. Yes, I failed English Literature and History in high school and I never thought I could write. But do you think my mother would be okay with me not writing home? So I began writing her stories about how every place I went to was different. She loved my letters and eagerly awaited the next… and so did my platoon sergeant. Curious to know what I was constantly writing about, he snuck into my rucksack and read one without my knowledge. Pretty ballsy on its own, but if I did what he did I don’t think I’d ask him, “so, what happens next?” That exchange opened my eyes to the notion that I might like writing more than I was willing to admit. So the idea fermented in the back of my mind for ten-plus years. Then I cracked open my wallet and invested in Screenwriter software (that was the Final Draft software of the nineties, for those who don’t know). My first screenplay was read by Baltimore/Spring Creek in mid '98. My second, a genre picture, received an offer. I kept writing genres, alone and with co-writers, getting another project optioned. After the option expired, the script remained un-produced. But I was able to leverage my experience to work as a writer-for-hire on my friend’s projects. In 2005 I raised money and produced a feature that went on to win a Silver Remi award for Best Independent Film in Houston's Worldfest Film Festival in 2006. Then in 2009, I wrote and produced a TV pilot, which premiered in the NY TV Festival and went on to win Best TV Pilot, Award of Merit and other accolades. Fifteen screenplays, two TV pilots, a lot of shorts and many years later, I’m looking to forge new relationships, develop new projects, and to continue to write more stories.

Unique traits: I speak many European languages. Played soccer in Germany.
