About Gemma
Hi all,
well, what can I tell you about me that wont drive you to sleep? I guess I can start by telling you all I am a fully qualified and professional writer. I work full time writing anything and everything that my dear clients require, although my passion is scriptwriting.
I have an M.A in Scriptwriting and a B.A in Creative writing and Drama. Prior to my late return back into education and before I became a professional writer I enjoyed a long career working in mental health.
Regarding my career as a scriptwriter, well I have written many shorts (2 of which have gone into production) I have had 3 feature lengths optioned (so I wait patiently every year for them to be optioned again, go into development or come back to me!) I have also worked in storyboarding for T.V, working on a very popular UK soap opera.
I write in-house for a UK production company as a script consultant/developer/general put the script together type person and I have been doing this on a freelance basis for 2 years.
I also write in-house for a media company writing animation shorts for business clients.
I have also just been commissioned to write 3 feature lengths as a ghostwriter. I have written, developed and worked on quite a few scripts as a ghostwriter. It's not my ideal choice but it's a way of feeding my kids I guess.
I have recently started a new venture because I have also worked in production and I've finally decided to produce one of my own shorts myself. I've got the financial backing of a company that I have been workng for as a writer for many years, so he is helping me to kickstart my short into development.
Well, just to keep my profile updated....my film short has now been released.
I also have 2 other scripts in development and my production company is working on another film short called 'Katie and JIm' which is about a couple coping with Katie's condition known as Aspergers.
So, I'm kept relatively busy but I love writing so much I would probably do it for free if I had to! (joke, so no one get any ideas!) hehe....
Basically that's me in a nutshell. Thanks for reading.
P.S I actually detest writing about myself in third person, I much prefer a 'this is me' type approach, hence my profile probably not meeting up to the industry standard of what is an acceptable bio. But hay, I love to break rules and I'm happy to be a black sheep!
