THE UNHAPPY HOUR
By L.A. Eide

GENRE: Comedy, Drama
LOGLINE: Two alcoholic superheroes get a reprieve from jail time( due to multiple DWI's) in return for completing rehab and resurrecting their super-villain-thwarting skills for the National Security Agency.

SYNOPSIS:

Dan a.k.a. LaserFast Guy hasn't been in the superhero game in over 20 years. Since he lost the talisman that gave him his super speed in a poker game, Dan has spent his life drifting aimlessly from drink to drink for years. His life as a hard-drinking casino cleaner is safe but pointless. Elsewhere, Bobby a.k.a. Vengeance, a super rich vigilante with violent and questionable methods (and a sizable drinking problem to match) hits rock bottom. En route to saving the governor from being thrown into the shark tank at the Mall of America, the superhero’s erratic driving lands him behind bars for DWI. A night of excessive happiness at happy hour puts Dan in jail as well. NSA Agent Jesus rescues them from criminal justice system. Jesus has a deal for the two heroes. Either they can go to jail or they can go to rehab, work for the NSA, and turn over a new leaf. For different reasons, both men jump at the chance to stay out of jail. The two sometimes superheroes agree to a stint in rehab – a time in which Dan confronts his many addictions while Bobby confronts his dark past and the death of his wife, for which he blames himself. After being released from rehab (and getting Dan's talisman back from the man he lost it to all those years ago), LaserFast Guy and Vengeance find themselves living in a halfway house (Dan) and a posh mansion (Bobby), respectively. It's not long before the two are back in the fold and taking on a super villain (an extreme Dallas Cowboys fan) known only as The Doctor of Dismay. The Doctor has plans to attack Viking stadium, disrupting the game so that his beloved Cowboys can make it to the Super Bowl. Only LaserFast Guy and Vengeance stand in his way. In order to defeat the Doctor, the two are not only going to have to learn to work together (not to mention Vengeance needs to stop murdering people) but also overcome their own addictions and personal demons. When the Doctor reveals a tragic connection to Dan's past, both Dan and Bobby must face the fact that though they're both superheroes, their greatest enemy might be themselves more than any villain.
