Rachel Walker

Rachel’s love for music started at an early age. She recalls her Mother putting her down for a nap and instead of sleeping she says she was singing and making songs. Born in the interior of British Columbia, Canada and raised on a lakeside First Nations reserve by American missionary parents in Fort St. James on Stuart Lake. Their first home was a simple wooden shack that had one wood stove and a big metal wash basin to take baths, hauling water up from the lake.
Moving to the city of Prince George, Rachel learned about the latest artists by hosting a radio program working under a local Youth for Christ. She moved onto Edmonton and created “A Show of Hands”, a video series on local people of interest. Always writing and singing Rachel has been featured at Folk Fests, talent shows, coffee houses and music festivals. In 2000 she released her first album tilted “Sent”.
After her first well received album, Rachel released “ Zorobabel” in 2005 working with studio musicians from the Cariboo area of British Columbia. Soon after she formed The Rachel Walker Trio, which released two addition albums “ The Best of Zest” volumes 1 & 2.
Now a global artist her latest songs are made of collaborations from all parts of the world. She has worked with Hollywood star of Fame, Alvin Taylor, Hall of Fame Tony Franklin, Vladimir Entirmirov, Sherry Finzer, flutist, Kenny Sutton, as well as up and coming artists and established artists from Africa. Babacar Ndiaye collaborated and produced new material with Rachel as well as Ombre Zion, who is a well established artist, who is featured on her song “Love Around the World” where Ombre sings in his native language.
Songs continue to come to Rachel and she can always be found in the studio creating and exploring new sound and new styles.
