Tanmaya Shekhar is a Brooklyn based filmmaker focused on character-based narratives centered on the politics of climate change inaction. A native of India, with a Master’s in Economics, Tanmaya has written & directed several short films and is currently in development for an animated TV series The Grand Tammy, a live-action drama-comedy series Fragrance, and an animated feature Fancy Rat.
He’s produced a feature-length independent documentary Farmers for America (PBS, 2020) and worked as a location assistant/scout on The Plot Against America (David Simon, HBO), Love Life (Anna Kendrick, HBOMax), Power Book III (50 Cent, Starz) and Never Rarely Sometimes Always (Eliza Hittman, Focus Features). Immersed in the independent film community of NYC, Tanmaya runs a weekly directing collective in Brooklyn - The Sandbox.
