About Gina

With a passion for the expatriate journey, Gina Dellios is a new screenwriter creating dramas and comedies with a multicultural perspective. So far she has written six scripts: Flambé (short film and series), Poseurs (series), The Maître d', Comedies and Tragedies, Expats, and Suitcase (series and film). She is working on three others: Adventures of a Modern-Day Business Girl, Her Name is Emilia, and Hollywood. She is fluent in English, French, Italian and Spanish, and has a good level of Greek.

The youngest and first American from her Italian-Uruguayan household, she now lives in the south of France with her own family working in her communications consultancy. Before this, she lived and worked in London for two years in high tech PR and learned so much about a culture that she thought would be like that of the U.S., but found to be quite different.

Her parents owned a locally famous flambé restaurant in California for 40 years. The most loyal patron, she learned a lot about human behavior by closely observing their clients since she was a small child, as well as through traveling a lot from the age of one.
Beginning his career as a bell boy at 11 years old in Italy during the second world war, Gina's father has been her idol and inspiration. She loves listening to his stories about growing up in Northern Italy during difficult times, and then pulling himself up to pursue his dreams in Lausanne, Copa Cabana, Punta del Este and ultimately America. The daughter of Spanish immigrants, Gina's mother who was a figure skater for many years in Uruguay, told her stories of growing up poor and desperately wanting to be a star. She would save her little salary to hire a photographer to take photos of her on a Montevideo beach in the early 1940s. Gina's family and their stories have ignited her passion for the expatriate journey.

Unique traits: I am fluent in English, French, Italian and Spanish, and have a respectable level of Greek. My projects have a multicultural perspective and a uniquely subtle sense of humor.
