About Michael

For the last decade (and with over 1400 placements and counting), Celebrity Eyeworks has been providing high-quality eyewear to the Motion Picture and Television industry, presenting glasses on the faces of the biggest celebrities in some of the biggest shows. The father-son team of Michael and Todd Hirsch operate out of their showroom a few minutes north of Hollywood, CA in the Independent Studio Services complex, the largest prop house in the United States, working with Prop Masters and Costumers to find the perfect match for a show’s actor, and the character they are portraying.

Michael Hirsch has been a Certified Dispensing Optician since 1966. In 1972, he opened Optical Odyssey, a full-service optical store and lab, in Santa Monica, CA. Over the next 23 years, Michael earned a solid reputation of providing his customers with the hottest trends in eyewear & the best customer service. With the office's close proximity to celebrity-heavy neighborhoods like Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, and Malibu, it was through Optical Odyssey that Michael developed his initial connections to the Entertainment Industry by counting the biggest celebrities of Film & TV as his personal patients.

Fast forward to 1995: desiring a new challenge in his professional career, Michael sold Optical Odyssey, and in 1998 he formally began his journey into "the industry" with Celebrity Eyeworks. Under the tutelage of optician Barry Franzblau, Michael absorbed every detail of Motion Picture & TV production in the areas of Props and Costuming, coupling this passion with his then-30 years of experience in the Optical trade. Over the last 13 years, Michael has once again earned a solid reputation -- this time with Hollywood's top Prop Masters and Costumers -- for his encyclopedic knowledge of current & vintage eyewear, and offering the optimum in customer service.

With ties to the Entertainment Industry since he was a mere 15 years old, Todd Hirsch entered the family business in early 2011. With a professional background over the last 20 years in Marketing & Public Relations -- as well as a passion for vintage eyewear -- Todd is responsible not only for all of the Social Media marketing and branding for Celebrity Eyeworks, but has proven himself to be a talented optical stylist as well.

With each new show that comes through the door, be it a TV sitcom pilot, longtime cable network drama, indie film, commercial, or big budget star-driven blockbuster, Michael and Todd attack each new project the same way: with fervor, dedication, professionalism, attention to detail, and a big sense of FUN, all the while providing Prop Masters and Costumers with the consistent level of excellence and service that they've come to expect from Celebrity Eyeworks.
