Tagline: Don't wander down the wrong spork in the road.

Mix of Black Mirror meets Twin Peaks by the Twilight Zone.

SYNOPSIS:

Spork Falls, a tiny speck of a town, population 100, is located here nor there. When random discombobulated people stumble into the all but forgotten town, the townsfolk wonder what supernatural occurrences are happening, this time.

Spork MacArthur 10, is a special child. So special that everyone including the government wants a piece of her. Innocence is lost on the beholder and Splayd's is wrapped in the complex texture of her soul. With a childlike curiosity her heart bleeds for the down and out strangers, she encounters and desires to help. Her naivete is in the general comprehension of the pitfalls of being human. She simply does not like mean people. While typical in young children the difference is Splayd is gifted - her powerful passion becomes bigger than her and encompasses unsuspecting subjects. Her telepathic powers end up transporting' those that she wishes to bestow karma on kicking and screaming unwittingly into another realm, subject to face their inner demons head-on.

The MacArthur family has kept the remains of the village and their family together since the Abolitionist days cleared out plantation owners. The current land was also once a formidable amusement park of the same name. Mayor MacArthur 68, keeps an eye on the center of town from his wheelchair perched at the Sucket Inn patio. Wife Ursula MacArthur 60, serves up these wandering visitors at the Inn with a tidy room and a mean bowl of psychological inducing Gumbo, complete with a wooden Spork. Spork Falls is patrolled by daughter Sheriff Wyndi MacArthur 35, a divorced college dropout and now the protector of her parents and twin sister, the eccentric autistic tech Blazi MacArthur. Wyndi must do everything she can to help protect her family and the eccentric town seemingly caught in a time warp of 1880 meets 1980, from those who wander down the wrong spork in the road.

When her younger brother Cosmos MacArthur 30, a single father of Splayd escapes the city and eventually rejoins his family, the odd occurrences happening in Spork Falls seem to escalate and begin to make sense at least to the MacArthurs. Not to the rest of the world who wants to figure out the young girl’s unique gift. Pursued by the Government and other shady forces hoping to take advantage of her, the MacArthurs go to great lengths to take Spork Falls off the map, off the grid, invisible. Unfortunately, Splayd’s tortured young soul pulls the unwitting right into their hidden bubble.

With struggling musician brother H20 27, Uncle Ceopha MacArthur 63, town fireman/doctor and fugitive Hector Gonzales 40, Grandma Walida, Kajika the silent Indian 33, Benji Kincaid, and Witch Hazel 58, are among the host of colorful townspeople. A snooping reporter Rebecca Moores 28, is the closest outsider attempting to crack the mystery of Spork

RICARDO

What, what is it?

CYNTHIA

She has a piece of candy - did you give her this?  Where did you get this?

Cynthia attempts to pull the candy from her daughter.  Yesenia clenches onto it.

YESENIA

Mommy no…

RICARDO

Yesenia!  Give the candy to your mother.  Cyndy why would you think I gave her that?

The officer approaches, speaks on his mobile.

BRUNOSK

COSMOS

Wait… baby girl what’s wrong?

The other children look to her in shock as her eyes roll into the back of her head and she shudders and faints on the playground.

COSMOS

What the what!  Splayd!!!

Cosmos races across the sand to his daughter.

EXT.  JOHNSON'S QUICKY MART - NOON

Officer Brunosk approaches the Dolomez.

BRUNOSK

Hey guys what seems to be the problem?

The Dolomez eye him with concern, Yesenia hides behind her mother.

RICARDO

No, no problem officer.  Something we can handle.

BRUNOSK

Oh yeah?  Seems we have a lil sticky fingers here.  Think could possibly be a bigger problem.  People like this always pose a risk.

CYNTHIA

People like what?  Look, officer, we just discovered it, we was about to return it to the store.

RICARDO

Yes officer, as I said we can handle this thank you.

BRUNOSK

I’m sure you people do handle this.  Probably lead by example.  What’s a little dollar candy huh?

The Dolemez look at each other nervously, a crowd of ONLOOKERS starts to gather, pulling phones out.

EXT.  PLAYGROUND - NOON

Splayd twitches in the playground mulch as Cosmos holds her, trying to console her.  Her hair has turned stark white.  Children are screaming.

COSMOS

Splayd!  Baby girl!  It’s dad!  Somebody call 911!  Somebody help!

EXT.  JOHNSON'S QUICKY MART - NOON

The crowd is getting thick as the cashier calls 911. Brunosk bends down trying to look at Yesenia.

BRUNOSK

Hey little one.  Being taught well huh?  Maybe I should take a look in mommy’s purse now also?

RICARDO

Hey now officer, now that’s unnecessary.

YESENIA

Mommy I don’t like this man.

BRUNOSK

Hey Pablo I’ll tell you what’s necessary.  Let me see your I.D.  Or do you even have one?  Maybe it’s time to take a trip back over the border huh?  Call ICE?

CYNTHIA

Sir!  He was born here!

BRUNOSK

Ma’am, I will check your identification here in a minute trust and believe.  Pablo pull out your papers.

RICARDO

It’s Ricardo Dolemez sir.  And I know my rights, why are you detaining us?

BRUNOSK

I’ll do the questions around here… PABLO.  Now hand over your I.D. before I take you in right now and you’ll be on the next bus back to Enchillataville in a flash.

Ricardo squints his eyes at the officer who narrows his back, his hand over his utility belt.

EXT.  PLAYGROUND - NOON

Splayd suddenly sits straight up and makes a large gasp.  She turns towards the store.  Cosmos looks in shock, follows her gaze. Her eyes snowy white.  She shrieks a blood curling scream.

SPLAYD

Noooooooooooooooooooo!

EXT. JOHNSON'S QUICKY MART - DAY

Ricardo reaches slowly for his wallet.  Brunosk watches him move.  Brunosk and Ricardo flinch at the scream.

ONLOOKER

That pig about to jack Ese up!

ONLOOKER 2

Oh look I’m getting Youtube gold!

CYNTHIA

Loco guarro asqueroso pig…!

Brunosk pulls out his gun as Ricardo drops his wallet attached to a metal chain.

RICARDO

Relax man, it’s just my wallet.

CYNTHIA

Dejar a mi hombre solo!

BRUNOSK

Release the chain slowly.  Don’t let me tell you again Pablo!

YESENIA

Mama…!

RICARDO

In front of my kid homie?

BRUNOSK

Release the chain now!  Don’t let me ask you again.

ONLOOKER 3

Leave him alone!  He wasn’t doing nothing!

CYNTHIA

Déjalo en paz cochino!

BRUNOSK

Shut your pie hole!

Brunosk turns beet red yelling in Cynthia’s face.  Ricardo pivots between them.

RICARDO

Ayo homie my wife!

Brunosk grabs Ricardo’s arm and twists him.  Ricardo digs his heel into the pavement struggling with the officer.  They hit the ground as Cynthia screams and the large crowd yells.  They tussle on the ground fighting until Brunosk grabs his gun.

CYNTHIA

Noooooo!

Both men hands are on the gun as Ricardo attempts to protect himself.  The gun fires.  Both men stare at each other in shock.  Sires are in the background.  A haze develops.

Fade to black.

EXT. PLAYGROUND - NOON

Splayd goes limp in her father’s hands, he rushes out of the playground for help.  People race in different directions.

EXT.  SPORK FALLS - FOREST - DAY

Brunosk wakes up lying in shallow swamp water.  He spits out water and shakes in complete disorientation and shock.  He looks up to the sun peeking through rain clouds, mist, he remembers and checks his body.  His hand is soaked in blood.  He sits up and checks himself.

BRUNOSK

What, what is going on?  Where the hell am I?

He keeps checking himself as he looks around a deep forest.  He hears natural animals and wind.  No city is in sight.

BRUNSOK

Man this is crazy, did I die?

His two way suddenly erupts with a bunch of static - he jumps and pulls it out of the water.

BRUNSOK

Hello?  Dispatch?  Hello?  Officer down - Officer… really has no idea what is happening right now.

The two way spits out more static and indistinguishable jargon.  It goes silent.  He inhales and stands up.  Remembers his cell phone.  He attempts a call.

BRUNOSK

Hello?  Hello?  Becky?  Can you hear me?  I don’t know what’s going on…  Hello?

He checks the phone, it states lost call.  No signal.  He is only at 22% power.  He tries again to no avail.

BRUNOSK

Hello?  Damn’it what the hell is happening??  Where am I?  Oh my God.

He stumbles out of the water to land, the sun peeks through the mist as he tries to make out the surrounding area.  He thinks he sees somebody standing behind a tree.

BRUNOSK

Hello?  Who’s there?  Hello?  Can you help me?

Pacing himself he walks towards the figure, he see’s her disappear then appears several feet away.

BRUNOSK

Hey!  Hey you!  Can you hear me?

The girl skips faster giggling as he starts to jog, tripping over roots and rocks.  He trips and rolls down an incline.

He sits up spitting out grass and rubbing bruises.

BRUNOSK

Son of a…!  I must be going straight crazy. I don’t know which way is up right about now.

He hears an echo of the girl giggling.  He gets up and limps over behind some brush.  There is a cave.

BRUNOSK

Got to be kidding me.  Hello?  Hello?  Little girl?  Hey, is there a town or something nearby?  Can you get help?  I don’t know where I am!  Hello!

He sees something moving in the dark, it comes closer.  His eyes go from relief to surprise.  It’s a snarling bobcat.

BRUNOSK

No!  No!  No!

He turns and runs screaming as the cat is right behind him. The cat lunges and he manages to fire a shot from his gun.  The spooked cat runs off.  He lays in the tall grass exhausted.
