James started his career with the Royal Marines and served in operational theatres including Kosovo, Northern Ireland and Iraq as well as peace time deployments to Turkey, Egypt and Oman. He was instrumental in liaising with allied naval assets and conducting ship boarding and search operations during the invasion of Iraq in 2003. After leaving the Royal Marines James worked as a consultant for a multi-national political, security and business risk consultancy providing security risk management services and liaison to the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office, United Nations and Department for International Development in the Middle East during the reconstruction effort.
After living in South Africa for several years, James re-located to the South of France where he successfully launched a start-up travel destination marketing business as part of a major UK based online travel brand covering over 100 destinations worldwide.
James entered the financial services industry in 2009, providing project appraisal and analysis to an emerging market private equity and venture capital consultancy firm based in the UK and has consulted on numerous projects and ventures in the Middle East, Africa and the former Soviet Union across a number of key market sectors including Oil & Gas, Mining and Commercial Real Estate.
James joined Oxberry Risk Strategies in 2011, a London based security and business risk consultancy. Oxberry Risk Strategies supports clients with the full spectrum of security and risk management services from Executive Protection and Travel Security to Political Risk Analysis through to in-country project support. Our clients include High Net Worth Individuals as well as corporate organizations engaged in the Energy, Mining, Maritime, Media and Entertainment sectors.
