About Justin

Justin Carter graduated summa cum laude from Morehouse College after earning a Master's from the School of Hard Knocks. He had a difficult upbringing filled with traumatic loss. He credits Hip Hop music for helping to hone his artistic voice, keeping him out the streets and focused on the arts. After garnering awards for original plays and short film projects, Justin relocated to Los Angeles, studying under his mentor, Bill Duke (Hoodlum, Deep Cover) quickly rising to become head of writing and development for his production company. Justin has collaborated with established writers including Aaron Rahsaan Thomas (Sleepy Hollow, Friday Night Lights) and Pat Cirillo (Tears of the Sun) on various projects. He's very passionate about community service and helping neglected children who have had similar difficult upbringings. He's proud to participate in the IMentor program, assisting At Risk Youth by fostering life skills through long lasting relationships. Justin also launched a community service program in Brooklyn, utilizing Hip Hop and his original writings to teach Black History through artistic expression. He was honored to perform in the Obie Award nominated revival of Amiri Baraka's 'Dutchman' at Cherry Lane Theatre. He also recurred on ABC’s ‘Life On Mars’ and starred in the award winning digital series 'Breaking & Entering' which he produced, wrote, and created.
