TRIPWIRE
By Jeffrey Groberman

GENRE: Action, Drama
LOGLINE: Logline: A disillusioned Afghan vet has to rescue an autistic college student who discovers Al Qaeda's bank transfer information and diverts their funds to a charity.

SYNOPSIS:

Chris Stephenson, 28, was made the scapegoat for letting Abdul Rashad, a notorious terrorist, into military HQ in Kandahar with disastrous results. Subsequently Chris left the army and fled to Berkeley where he teaches Computer Science and keeps to himself. The other protagonist, Alan Cohen, 22, is a high functioning Autistic kid who is running from his wealthy overprotective parents. Alan wants to prove to them he can make it in the outside world on his own. He ends up enrolled in Chris’s Computer Science class at Berkeley. Like many Autistic individuals, Alan has a “gift:” he can see things in hidden in computer WebPages: namely hidden cryptic unbreakable messages. Alan confides to Chris about being able to see these “hidden messages.” One particular message reveals all the bank routing information and passwords for Al Qaeda operatives around the world. Alan is appalled that this money would be used to kill people, and ignoring Chris’s advice not to do anything until he can contact someone in Homeland Security, “re-directs” the money to a Jewish charity that plants trees in Israel. The money transfer attracts the attention of Al Qaeda who orders their best operative to Berkeley to recover their money by kidnapping Alan and holding him for ransom. Unfortunately for both Chris and Alan, the lead terrorist happens to be the same terrorist who was responsible for the bombing in Afghanistan Chris was blamed for - and soon a cat and mouse game begins between Christopher and the assassin with Alan’s life in the balance. Tripwire is a “smart” action drama complete with motorcycle chases, a developing love story, and an interesting twist at the end.
