SYNOPSIS:

2012 Feel Good Film Festival semi-finalist Stanley Town, ID. is a small town nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, deep in cattle country. The gray wolves have recently been taken off the Endangered Species list, and activists are fighting to keep the local ranchers, led by JAKE SPEARS, from getting permission to hunt them before they start preying on their livestock… and livelihood. Jake’s daughter, HOLLY (8) has spent her whole life hearing about how savage and evil wolves are. So when she finds tracks on their property and sees eyes in the darkness from her bedroom window, she is terrified. While playing one day, though, she wanders into the thicket abutting their property, and finds a lone wolf pup. Instead of the slavering beast she has been taught to expect, though, all Holly sees is a helpless creature, lost and hungry, and limping on an injured paw. She names him BADPAW. Holly’s mother, MEGAN, is a veterinarian. Holly smuggles some of Megan’s ointment and bandages out to the thicket. Luring BadPaw with food, she gets close enough to treat his paw as best she can. Having gained BadPaw’s trust, she quietly steals food and nurses him back to health. They go on adventures in the forest together. BadPaw becomes Holly’s best friend. Holly can’t hide her thievery anymore, though, and Megan is worried sick every time she vanishes into the woods all day. Holly’s parents ground her. The first snows of winter fall. Though Holly was kind enough to build a den for BadPaw, he shivers, cold and hungry. Holly manages to sneak out, only to find BadPaw on the brink of death. Holly has to reveal her secret to Megan, who takes pity and uses all of her veterinary skills to try to save BadPaw. But even if she’s able, Holly knows that her father will shoot BadPaw on sight...
