Frank O'Connor, long and lean, ex-cop, fired after failing a drug test, winds up on the Lower EastSide where he quickly descends into drug addiction. Strung tight as a tennis racket, a simmering rage lies below the surface ready to explode. Behind his sunken cheeks, dark eyes betray his fears and loneliness. Bobby Watson, frail 19 year-old, recently arrived in NYC from a small Midwestern town. Abused by his father, scorned by his mother, he flees his home and finds himself alone in the squalor of the Lower EastSide. To survive he pursues a friendship with an ill-tempered Frank who introduces him to the hardcore junkie life. Frank awakens one morning with a syringe still in his arm and decides to get help before he becomes another faceless junkie lying in the morgue. Bobby continues his downward spiral. The homicide of a major drug dealer shot in front of them will result in the death of one of the protagonist.
