About Matthew

Matthew Strachan has composed music for film, TV, and stage, and written songs for Nashville and for
musical theatre. His music can currently be heard on BBC Radio 4's landmark WWI drama HOME
FRONT. He has recently completed scores for AS IS at the Trafalgar Studios and PASSING BY at the
Tristan Bates Theatre and his third musical, ABOUT BILL, premièred in London in 2011. Matthew is
also the creator of the celebrated Klaus Harmony and the fictional horror composer Bertók Freítgeísz.
Matthew's film and TV credits include MONEY (BBC), SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE (Fox Searchlight),
EXTRACT (Miramax), ABOUT A BOY (Universal Pictures), A KIND OF HUSH (First Film Company),
WINNING LINES (Worldwide), QUESTION TIME (BBC), THE WARD (ITV), THE DETECTIVES
(BBC), and BOOGIE OUTLAWS (BBC).
Theatre credits include AS IS (Trafalgar Studios, Finborough Theatre), PASSING BY (Tristan Bates
Theatre), ABOUT BILL (Landor Theatre), HUNGRY GHOSTS, THE PROMISE, THE MAKING OF
MOO, LAST TRAIN TO NIBROC, NEXT DOOR'S BABY, THE GOOD WOMAN OF SETZUAN,
SIMPLETON OF THE UNEXPECTED ISLES (Orange Tree Theatre), THE LODGER (Windsor Theatre
Royal), IMAGINE (Liverpool Playhouse). Matthew is currently composer in residence at Arion
Productions.
Matthew has won twelve awards including the ASCAP Hall of Fame Award for the soundtrack to WHO
WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE? He is also a full BAFTA member.
