From fifteen years as a cinematographer, i’ve been fortunate enough to have done some dream projects. Early on in my career I shot the joint French / Australian Feature ‘Art or Love’ directed by Charis Orchard. Set in Mackay, Queensland and Paris, France. My first overseas trip, period! Such a life changer. Later on I was fortunate enough to be asked by South African Director/Producer Chloe Speller to shoot a political drama, ‘Meniscus’. Set in the heart of the real Johannesburg in the slums of Kliptown, it was a real eye opener to life and how good we have it. Made me appreciate the little things in life. My latest project ‘Charlie’s Farm’ staring Tara Reid, Bill Moseley and Kane Hodder is my 2nd collaboration with writer/Director Chris Sun (Shoreline Management). The film was shot in 24 days on location with a $3mm budge. A classic style slasher, something different I say.
With every and each project I work on. I love finding out the phycology behind the script. Why are the characters acting a certain way? What is the meaning of this scene? I want the audience to know what is going on with the scene without any sound, just by the pictures alone. For then I have succeeded in bringing the story to life.
Unique traits: Story comes first over pretty pictures. Bet you thought you would never hear a DOP say that.
