About Brian

Born in North Carolina, I graduated with a Radio and Television Broadcasting degree in 1985 and began my career in broadcast news as an Commercial Editor and Camera Operator.

By 1988, I realized I needed more creative challenges. My passion for cinema would soon put me in Los Angeles, attending “The Movie Group Institute,” studying Cinematography and Directing under the watchful eye of the late Actor, Ross Hagen (Daktari, Gunsmoke, Mission Impossible, The Fall Guy). A short time later, Ross would ask me to shoot the low budget physiological thriller, “The Media Madman,” directed by Ross and starring Actor Hoke Howell (Another 48 hours, Far and Away, Geronimo, Alien Species). After "The Media Madman" I had the great opportunity to work as Assistant Camera for such greats as The late Gary Graver, one of the last remaining Cinematographers for Orson Wells.

During the late 80’s and early 90's I would soon find myself directing and/or photographing such notables as Donald O’Conner (Singing In The Rain), Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex In The City), and many others. I eventually move back to North Carolina in 1995 where I started 1130 Media Group and soon after was hired as “Second Unit Cinematographer” for the highly rated CBS documentary “The Life and Times of Pete Maravich.” The show went on to receive several Emmys in various categories.

In 1998 I moved back to LA temporally for the opportunity to work in the visual effects department for Paramount Picture's sci-fi series “Seven Days.” Upon returning back to NC, I expanded my services to include Red 4K production, commercial photography and graphic design.
