Philip Bower, recently retired from Upper St. Clair High School after teaching English and Learning Support for over 35 years, has been acting locally in Pittsburgh and the tri-state area for nearly four decades in close to ninety stage productions, including those of the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, West Virginia Public Theatre, and The Pittsburgh Savoyards, among many others.
In recent years, he has been concentrating increasingly on film, often portraying the resident villain in various guises. He has become a specialist, of sorts, in playing a wide variety of film dads, often quirky and dark, and his psycho dad was on the screen in "Dot" at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
With his deep and resonant voice, regardless of the role, Philip always brings a strong presence and authoritative mien to the film. Though the aforementioned villainy notwithstanding, he is equally adept at comedy, as well as drama.
