About Lisa

I'm a practicing lawyer and mother of four under four with a story going through my head like a constant whir. My first real shot at directing a project of this scope I was 8.5 months pregnant, yelling Cut! like only a woman who's water might break can. I haven't been to film school but I met the Raindance community and picked up some really great tips, and better yet a supportive community. I have learned that determination can get you further along the path than much else. I'm currently in-house counsel to a group of technology and communications companies, but I did run my own firm and snatch my LL.M. at the same time. I was the lawyer who represented Nelia Laroza's family in the SARS cases, she was the first nurse to die of SARS. I have a rod of steel in my core. Don't you forget it. Young and undaunted by the formidable forces working for the other side, my personality has only aged like good wine. Directing for me, was a sublime experience and seeing my story come alive----magic! Contact me. I have features written and I have a short produced on very little cash that is funny, edgy and in the end might give you the feels. I did over 20 pages in 3 days, which means even pregnant I understand what producers need. MORE? OK!! Its not everyone that can write and direct a funny movie. I guess with all the serious stuff I do as a mother or in my day job I've got to let it out someplace. I run on a regular basis and on my last maternity leave got my grade 8 piano at the Royal Conservatory. Projects don't seem daunting to me. They are a necessary part of my DNA. I grew up in Espanola, Ontario and maybe that's why my characters can be so relate-able. I've traveled and some of things I'm most proud of I won't share. Because overcoming hardship is sometimes personal. But its also in your voice - how you write and where you can take people with your characters. I believe a story in film should bring you through a few emotions and tap you so that days later you're still thinking about it. Was there a message? I think you need to be raw to believe in love, disgusted before you laugh... Hey - I'm impressed with myself from time to time. Give me a shot to impress you too. I WANT to MAKE IT.
