About Ion

Born in Bucharest, Romania (30.03.1977) into a highly artistic and creative family (his father, a reporter and novelist, his mother, a writer and film director), Ion developed eclectic taste in the arts at a young age. As a little kid, he spent his summers on his mother’s movie sets developing a basic knowledge about the art of film. At the age of 22, in Canada, Ion pursued a path of an entrepreneur and opened his first business. Even though he wasn’t directly pursuing a career of a filmmaker, he allowed his creative side to be expressed through unique business concepts. His innovative approach in different industries has brought him media and public recognition.

Ion Nicolae has been featured in The Globe and Mail, National Post, Toronto Star, to name a few, for his innovative concept of “350 Fahrenheit” restaurant , for the outstanding design at “Black Line Studio” -custom tattoo art and retail concept. He also made numerous guest appearances on shows such as: ETalk Canada, Chris and Steven show, Three Takes, ET Canada and MTV LIVE. At the age of 32, Ion finally decided to pursue his passion and granted an admission in New York Film Academy in Los Angeles at Universal Studios. Supporting what he already knew in acting, screen writing and directing , and from his experience as a PA , Ion wanted to get a professional knowledge on movie making. For his first film, Ion wrote a short story that he directed and produced in Los Angeles, California. The movie tells a story about a charming, successful real state agent who followed his own interest and didn’t care about those who were left behind. The film was finished in September 2010 and has already gotten Awards of Merit and Honorable Mentions at various film festivals.

Ion is currently working on a feature film project.
