Kristen Johnson has a passion for writing stories with a light touch that leave you wondering about possibilities. Her middle grade novel, The Eleventh Sense, the story of a bug whisperer with a big problem, took the Silver in the 2010 San Diego Book Awards for Fantasy. Kristen is in the process of adapting this story into a feature.
She recently completed her M.F.A. in Professional Screenwriting through National University, and graduated with Honors. During her course studies, she had the distinction of being selected as a participant in the pilot program for Cinematic Storytelling Across Cultures, an international collaboration with Griffith Film School in Brisbane, Australia. Selection for this program was based on a combination of writing talent and demonstrating a collaborative spirit.
Kristen has done well in her first attempts at contests. Her pilot, PSYCHICS ANONYMOUS, was among the top seven finalists in the 2013 Fresh Voices Competition. Her feature, THE TREK, made the top 15% of the 2015 Nicholls Competition.
Traveling is a passion for Kristen, and she uses these experiences to give her characters depth and interest. She currently resides in Southern California.
