Amy Schelich

I remember writing stories and inventing characters in my head at a very young age. My passion for film started when I was about 12 years old and I picked up a camera for the first time. I spent most of my weekends and homework breaks shooting short movies and news shows and casting my four younger sisters in them. We lived on a farm in a small town in Ohio, so we had to use our imaginations! My father also started teaching a video communications class in the late 1980’s, which I eagerly joined in junior high school and learned how to write and edit news stories for the local cable access channel. That kept me occupied until I discovered that I could also act and sing. Soon, I began auditioning and starring in school musicals. When the time came for deciding on colleges, like a lot of my Mid-western middle-class peers, I had to find something affordable and close to home. Acting also "wouldn't pay the bills" - according to a pre-conceived notion that was often attached to careers in the performing arts, so I had to adjust my expectations. I was happy to discover that The Ohio State University offered a broadcast journalism program, which was a great second choice. It was a very rewarding experience and it gave me the opportunity to write and be in front of the camera again, which was my goal. While I never worked in news after graduation, I did make it to New York and have been acting here for 14 years.

I have experience in all aspects of the business, but have most recently been working on television shows (The Blacklist, Elementary, The Affair, Master of None, The Americans, Blue Bloods and Law & Order SVU....just to name a few) so I have put in a lot of time on set. While I love acting and am still interested in auditioning, I really need to learn how to write and produce my own work. I welcome any opportunities that will help me accomplish that!
