Two Allied officers with their fellow soldiers heroically endure a WWII Japanese POW camp hidden in China through forced labor, biological experiments and inhumane torture then once freed are silenced and shunned by their own governments.
SYNOPSIS:
American 1st Lt. William Thompson, British Major Robert Peaty and fellow soldiers enjoy a party at the Manila Hotel while Imperial Japanese forces are attacking Hawaii then head to the Philippines.The Allies begin a slow retreat to make a last stand but must surrender as POWs are then crowded onto "Hell Ships" headed for Northeast China factories as slave labor.
Japanese captors cause numerous prisoner deaths through deliberate malnutrition, exposure to extreme weather, sadistic torture and preventable diseases even as heroic Chinese collaborators help Allies escape only to suffer execution. Infamous Unit 731 military doctors perform abusive biological experiments upon the beleaguered POWs whose hope wanes.
American bombers strike the camp and factories sending Japanese into a violent frenzy even as Thompson and Peaty try to broker a peace until OSS paratroopers arrive declaring war's end. The US government orders POWs to sign a secrecy oath denying their war time activities. Civilian Thompson spots a criminal Unit 731 doctor in America continuing his work for US Army.
