EAST WIND

EAST WIND
By Doug Ross

GENRE: Historical, Drama
LOGLINE: This limited series is the epic true story of visionary Dr. Sun Yat-sen who was exiled for his revolutionary movement which inspired the many brave men and women to overthrow the Qing Dynasty that established a democratic China.

SYNOPSIS:

Considered by many as the Father of Modern China, Sun Yat-sen was a charismatic medical doctor who sowed the seeds of revolution after initially advocating a peaceful solution. Forced into exile for instigating several revolutions, Sun is plagued by political and military losses, financial and marital failures, and was endlessly pursued around the world by Chinese security agents. His strength lay in his ability to raise money and support in Southeast Asia, Japan and the Americas for the revolution in China. Sun led a fascinating personal life, with overlapping marriages and concubines, living more as an intellectual than either a politician nor general.

Of his many supporters, Charlie Soong helped finance uprisings against the Qing Dynasty government, while also fathering three daughters who would play significant roles in the revolution: Soong Ai-ling, who served as Sun's personal secretary until she married a wealthy banker; Soong Ching-ling, who eloped with Sun against her father's wishes, and Soong Mei-ling, who married Sun's military right hand, General Chiang Kai-shek, who later became China's leader after Sun's death.
