BIG MUDDY

LOGLINE:

Bo (the golden boy) brother convinces Duncan (the black sheep) to float the same river they did as children to see if he is worthy of his inheritance, but instead the brothers find out together the fate of their relationship and maybe their lives.

SYNOPSIS:

After Bo and Duncan's mother dies, the responsibility is given to Bo to decide if Duncan is able to handle his part of the inheritance.Bo’s son is suffering from severe asthma and this money would allow them to seek treatment from a specialist.Duncan is looking for a way to get out of town after losing a large bet so Bo easily convinces him to float down the Missouri River, the same river they went down as children.There are ups and downs along the river, but the brothers begin to fall into a similar rhythm as if they were kids again.Duncan soon learns Bo’s real motive for inviting him when he finds a check for his half of the inheritance.Bo gives Duncan his options, take the money or allow Bo to use it for his son.Duncan takes the money.When he returns home to Chicago, he cannot live with his decision.He mails the check to Bo along with a note apologizing. At the same time Bo receives the letter and begins reading it, Duncan is attacked by the gangsters. Bo reads the last line as Duncan takes his final breath and closes his eyes.“Every time I close my eyes, I am back on that river with you and I'm happy. No matter what happens to us, we will always have the river and that muddy water running through our veins"
