David Granato is a film Director and Producer running his own production company, Polygranate Films. He is in post production for his first feature film, a version of William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" and raising money to make a short film out of the Banjo Patterson poem "Mulga Bill's Bicycle".
Since 1998 David Granato has produced and directed groundbreaking music videos for Warner Music Australia, Mushroom Records, EMI/Virgin, Valve and Rhythm Ace, including the bands Regurgitator, Butterfingers, Resin Dogs, Screamfeeder, Not From There and Pretty Violet Stain.
David Granato is a video installation artist specialising in grand illusions, combining video with sculpture on a large scale. Starting in theatre in 1995, he has since brought his illusionary techniques to The Big Day Out, The Livid Festival and many indoor venues for acts such as Fat Boy Slim & Ed Kuepper (The Saints, Laughing Clowns). David was Video Artist for “At First Sight” nominated for a Helpmann Award next to Phillip Genty & Circus Oz.
He has produced DVD’s for Regurgitator (Band In A Bubble), Ed Kuepper (Honey Steel’s Gold) and others.
David’s television programs have enjoyed high ratings and been sponsored by the Commonwealth Bank, Visy Recycling, Arts Queensland, BCC, Legal Capital Lawyers and many other companies.
Since 1994 David has produced premier quality promotional packages for theatre, dance and circus companies touring Australia, Europe and North America.
David has also produced & directed several TV Commercials.
David was an Adjunct Teaching Fellow at Bond University School of Film and Television 2000 – 2008. His students have won awards at the Qld New Filmmakers Awards.
