About Amanda

Leading an intense and prolific career, Amanda Maya is among the most talented and active Brazilian actors, filmmakers and production designers of her generation. Her newest film projects opened in movie theaters in Brazil and were acquired by Sony Entertainment, Fox Channel, Axn Channel, Box Brazil, Air France, Emirates Airlines and Net Now VOD to name a few. Her latest project, the dramatic feature film "Alguém Qualquer/Anyone Out There" (in which Amanda plays the lead female character and acts as producer and production designer), received numerous international awards and was described as "...a universal master piece..." by Dr. Jose Barriga at Harvard University. Amanda's debut as a feature film director was also a remarkable success (her suspense/horror feature "Jogo do Copo (Ouija Board)" was quickly acquired by Sony Entertainment upon completion. In 2015, Casting Director Andra Reev-Rab (The Big Bang Theory) described Amanda's performance as "...elegant, devastating, masterful...".

Amanda Maya appeared in dozens of plays throughout Brazil and in 2007 she was invited to play the lead role in the feature film "Wireless" (released in movie theaters in November of 2009),revealing her talent and performance to large audiences in International Film Festivals and Theatres around the world. As a multi-focus artist, besides acting Amanda has produced and directed not only fiction films but also music videos, documentaries and TV shows.

She has also written articles on Film and Acting regularly for several magazines and newspapers in Brazil. Considered one of the leading practitioners of the Stanislavsky System in Brazil, Amanda has taught acting and directing at the Sao Paulo School of Cinema and at The Stanislavsky Institute since 2008 and was one of the founders of the Latin American Film Institute. Amanda got her BFA in Theatre from the Anhembi-Morumbi University in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and since then has also studied under the main Theatre and Film teachers and directors in the country and abroad, including mentors from the US, Finland and England.

Amanda Maya was recently invited by Hollywood Producer Andy Meyer (The Breakfast Club, Fried Green Tomatoes) to re-locate to the U.S. where she resides as of 2015 under a fellowship granted by a prestigious film institution.
