David Seltzer grew up in East Chicago Indiana. He worked in the steel mills to pay for college. He was in the Navy and a member of a sub hunter flight crew in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam era. Upon discharge, he returned to the states and attended Indiana University. David earned an MBA from the University of Chicago and traded on Wall Street for several years. After leaving Wall street, David taught at Loyola University of Chicago and The University of Illinois. He boxed in the service. While teaching at university. Lester Holt and CBS covered him and other professionals as white collar boxers in Chicago. He writes about the hard scrabble lives of the people he's encountered in his life. The Collector is a short story about some of those characters.
