Rainer began his career as a director in musical theatre in Germany, assisting distinguished directors like Harry Kupfer and Gil Mehmert. Rainer initiated and directed the musical projects “Elisabeth”, “Joseph” and “One More Night”. He regularly works with the renowned Bavarian Theatre Academy in Munich, directing for them, amongst other works, the musical “City Of Angels”.
His short films have been screened at renowned film festivals around the world, with “A Small Place” and "Enchanting Rupert" winning awards for ‘Best Film’, 'Best Short' and ‘Best Screenplay’.
As a producer, Rainer is the co-founder of Play On Films, a British-German production company based in London and Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. As associate producer and development associate for Leo Media in London he has worked on international feature film projects focusing on script development and project packaging.
He completed his undergraduate degree in film, theatre and music at the University of Hildesheim, Germany before studying directing and filmmaking at the New York Film Academy in New York and gaining an MA at the London Film School. He continued his training at the International Film School in Cologne, completing their course on International Producing.
Rainer lives in London and Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He regularly teaches courses in film acting and filmmaking in Germany and is founding member of EPIC, a co-production network of Northern European emerging producers (in association with Screen Talent Europe).
