THE CURSE OF SHAKESPEARE
By Katt Tolley

GENRE: Horror, Comedy
LOGLINE: When grave-robbing The Bard's body unleashes a curse, a lonely middle-aged professor must undo it before he kills and dies in his own Shakespearean tragedy.

SYNOPSIS:

Bill Warwick is a dusty but edgy Shakespeare professor who wants to avoid a clichéd mid-life crisis despite his wife leaving him for the pool boy. When Bill is asked to curate a new Shakespeare museum in London, he promotes his pretty young TA to PA and boards a plane for Heathrow. Bill attends parties and works with his employer to build the best Shakespeare museum ever, until he realizes that by ignoring the epitaph's warning and unearthing Shakespeare's corpse from his grave, they have unleashed a curse on everyone involved. Bill and his colleagues all find themselves twisted into their own personal Shakespearean tragedies: the crew foreman's daughter and her boyfriend die in a double-suicide, the documentary producer's daughters make her life miserable until she slits their throats, the museum's head of accounting's wife persuades him to murder the corporation's CFO to get a promotion, and the project manager sees a ghost claiming to be his father that urges him to avenge his death by killing his uncle and mother. Bill breaks into the museum and returns the body to its resting place, but the curse is not broken and the tragic slaughters continue. When Bill, cursed to fill the role of Othello, nearly strangles his PA, he gathers up the remaining grave-robbers and returns to the grave. But how can a lonely middle-aged Shakespeare professor persuade the 400-year-dead bard to end the carnage and rest in peace?
