Born in Altadena, California, Michael has always had a hand and talent for anything creative. In 1980, he entered the field of musical theatre when he stepped into a community theatre's production of THE WIZARD OF OZ portraying the Scarecrow. During the play's first week of rehearsal, the theatre was informed by the rights holder of this MGM movie based stage show had changed its royalty policy. From this production forward, 100% (instead of the usual 50%) of the royalties were now due all at once. With this sudden financial burden imposed, the theatre was about to cancel the show and do a different musical without this imposition. Michael stepped in and wrote a brand new script based on the original 1900 Frank Baum classic which had now fallen into the public domain. The songs were another matter and he composed the music and lyrics for sixteen original songs and the classic show went on with critical acclaim. Bitten by the writing bug, Michael found a gifted collaborator named RANDY AMES and together they composed several shows together including SKYLARK, THE INVITATION and A MOMENT WITH MISTER "C." Michael went on to write almost fifteen hundred songs finding a new writing partner in 2007 named JOHN D. NUGENT. Together they have written twenty- seven musicals together including SEVENLY, THE BROADWAY ANGELS and the now optioned for Broadway DEATH DOES BROADWAY and ABRA CADABRA AND THE FABULOUS FALCONI. They have also written several screenplays and television pilots together including one for LAINIE KAZAN called FIRST MOTHER. Presently, they are hard at work attempting to revive a grand and famous repertory theatre.
