LOGLINE:

The monsters from every child’s nightmares have emerged and wiped out nearly all of humanity, save for a small group of children who desperately seek out a fabled promised land.

SYNOPSIS:

A feature-length anime-style animated horror movie. Takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, in a large, somewhat futuristic, but ruined and abandoned city. Every building and vehicle is dilapidated and breaking down. A thick cover of black-grey clouds, shrouding everything in a dark-grey haze, covers the sky. The monsters from every child’s nightmares brought about this apocalypse. From a dark dimension hidden by the thin veil of our reality, they emerged from every closet and from under every bed. Feeding the fears of children the world over for decades, until their collective belief in and fear of them will allow the monsters to fully materialize in our reality. Now, they’ve finally attacked and have all but wiped out the human race. The story follows Sarah, a fifteen-year-old girl who leads and looks after a small group of 9-year-old children, including her little sister Melody.

In the distance, they suddenly see a sliver of light resting on the horizon, and resolve to go to it. Riding towards it on their bikes, and carrying in their backpacks what food and medicine they could find, they are must constantly hide and run from the monsters along the way.

They eventually come across an old recording from a now-dead scientist, who reveals that she’s discovered that a rip in reality leading to a paradise dimension will open at some point in the near future. That rip could’ve been humanity’s salvation, but the monsters killed most of humanity before it appeared. Based on the recording’s description of the rip, the children realize that the light on the horizon that they’re seeking is the rip to paradise that was theorized.

During their quest, several of the children are killed either by the elements or by the monsters. Melody is ultimately killed, emotionally devastating Sarah. But Sarah manages to get the few surviving children to the rip, where they narrowly escape the monsters and reach the paradise dimension. Several generations later, the monsters have fully settled-in on Earth, and the descendants of the children have established their own society in the paradise dimension. However, several humans have resolved to reclaim Earth. Now the humans repeatedly emerge from the paradise dimension into the rooms of the monster children, instilling fear in them so humanity can return to Earth.
