About Gail

I'm a writer and translator, born in Michigan, living primarily in France. Previously a copywriter and production assistant for the PBS affiliate in Grand Rapids, Michigan and a DJ on local radio, I have written over twenty produced scripts in French for half-dozen TV series and adapted many others into English, including some subtitling. A history buff, especially on the Enlightenment, my book, “Voltaire’s Revolution: Writings from His Campaign to Free Laws from Religion” was released by Penguin/Random House in 2015, based partly on findings presented at a Sorbonne University conference in French in 2014, further developped and published in "Cahiers Voltaire 16".

I have written a feature-length film script on Voltaire, as well as feature-length comedy inspired by one of his lesser-known works on the trials and tribulations of two very famous 15th century women. I am currently developing a play in English entitled "Voltaire's Revolution" on the original 18C battle for freedom of beliefs.

Unique traits: Have written all kinds of produced scripts for French TV, but my private passions revolve around literature and history.
