I'm a freelance writer and translator, born in Michigan but living primarily in France. Previously a copywriter and production assistant for the PBS affiliate in Grand Rapids, Michigan and a DJ on local radio, I have written over twenty produced scripts in French for half-dozen TV series and adapted many others into English. I have also translated a play, websites, exhibitions for art galleries and museums and subtitled several documentaries. A history buff, especially on the Enlightenment, my book, “Voltaire’s Revolution: Writings from His Campaign to Free Laws from Religion” was released by Penguin/Random House in 2015. Some of the findings in the introduction were presented at a Sorbonne University conference on Voltaire in 2014.
I am currently writing a feature-length film script on Voltaire and his journey to the Enlightenment battle for freedom of beliefs, as well as feature-length comedy inspired by one of his lesser-known works on the trials and tribulations of two very famous 15th century women.
