About Cole


Cole Stamm is a writer and director from South Carolina.

Cole received his MFA at New York University’s graduate film program in Singapore in 2015. He was a 2021 Indie Grants Program Recipient for the short film “Day Pass.” Cole is also a graduate of Vancouver Film School and Clemson University (BA, English).

As a writer and director, he has made several short films which have played at film festivals around the world such as Clermont Ferrand, Encounters, and Palm Springs ShortFest.

Prior to NYU, Cole co-wrote the screenplay for the feature film “Riddle” (2012), a psychological thriller set in rural America starring Val Kilmer (“The Doors”) and William Sadler (“Shawshank Redemption”).

Cole is also a cinematographer who shot the award-winning short film “Pauwi: Returning Home” which won first prize at NYU’s First Run Festival, 2015 and screened at several international film festivals.

He was also nominated for Best Student Cinematography in 2008 by the Canadian Society of Cinematographers for his work on the short film “Hail Mary” which premiered at the New York Film Festival in 2008.
