Sam Katz is thrilled to be performing after a three-decade hiatus. She studied acting with John Howard Swain and improvisational theatre with Scotty Watson and David Marx of Artistic New Directions and Israel Savage of In-Studios. She recently performed in showcases directed by improvisational theatre masters Michael Gellman, Gary Austin, David Razowsky, and Scotty Watson, and has taken workshops with Kevin Frank, Rachel Hamilton, Michael Rock, Gabrielle Maisels, Mik Kuhlman, Carol Lempert, Joseph Gallo, Jeffrey Sweet, Miriam Kulick, Wenndy MacKenzie, Carol Fox Prescott, Page Clements and many others. She’s been a guest improviser with IRTE and Gotham City Improv, and recently starred in two New School student films. With a diverse background in radio, film, public relations and promotion, Katz has spent the past 18 years as the writer, editor, and executive assistant to the president of the Detectives’ Endowment Association, the labor union of 17,000 active and retired NYPD Detectives, which she considers a front row seat to the Greatest Show on Earth.
